Note: Our slices come off the saw reasonably smooth - even the unsanded options can be written on or painted on.
When we sand our slices they come out feeling very smooth to the touch and the growth rings really come out nicely. It is easier to write and paint on a sanded surface

We have quality control for every order to make sure your slices are:

• Flat and level
• Have no cracks or splits
• Uniform thickness (within a size range)
• Reasonably smooth surface (even when unsanded)
• Full ring of bark
• Within the stated size range

Please keep in mind wood slices are a natural product and they do differ in terms on shape, bark size and markings. Some pieces may have an occasional side branch nub.

Any pieces that don't make the cut for our standard listings, ends up in our seconds listing.
